FAQ

What is the UKIS Development League?

The UKIS Development League offers all players an opportunity to grow and learn in a fun and structured environment. We provide an organized league where ‘development for all’ is our key focus and not ‘win at all costs’.

Are the coaches certified?

Yes, all coaches hold either International or US qualifications and have experience working with youth players. Your coach will provide feedback and work on areas for development during practices whilst providing a positive learning environment.

What playing experience does my child require?

Children participating in the league can be first time soccer players or players with years of experience…’Everybody Plays’. Our coaches focus on development for all to ensure every child has an opportunity to progress at their own level in a positive learning environment.

How is your program structured and what types of activities take place each day?

Our program has a main topic for each week (e.g. Passing & Movement). Players will receive age appropriate coaching at practices and games, which will play a pivotal role in aiding player development. Players will gain an overall understanding of the game along with technical development to support their progress in soccer.
Our player development model is designed to create opportunities for players to maximize their touches on the ball.
Each session typically lasts 1 to 1.5 hours and the program usually lasts 8-10 weeks.

How long are the games and how many players are on each team?

The duration of the games and number of players on a team varies based on location, but typically last up to 1 hour and are small sided.

Why choose the UKIS Development League?

The UKIS Development League is a unique program where we focus on player development and educate the players within the game. This provides them with a greater understanding of how to make better decisions in game situations.

Can I be on the same team as my friends?

Our program does allow players to be placed with their friends and we will always do our best to ensure your child is allocated to the same team where possible. Please ensure players register together for the optimal opportunity to accommodate your request.

Is there a winner at the end of the season?

Since this is a ‘Development League’ our focus is on developing players in an open and relaxed environment. We do not announce winners nor encourage the players to worry about winning at all costs. We want players to grow and learn in a fun and educational environment, through positive coaching.

As a parent can I get involved?

Yes! We encourage parents to help out and get involved where possible. Roles include team manager, coache's assistant and helping co-ordinate referee’s, fields or schedules.

How long is the season?

The league is typically 10 weeks long with 8 of these weeks including games, but some leagues maybe shorter in duration.

What equipment does my child require?

Apart from shinguards, a ball (unless part of the program), soccer attire and appropriate footwear, we recommend each child bring plenty of water and sun protection (sun tan lotion, hat, etc., if applicable).

How should my child dress for the program?

We recommend wearing a t-shirt, shorts, socks, shinguards and cleats. Alternative footwear is okay if you do not have soccer cleats, but no baseball or football cleats.

Am I required to stay at the program?

It’s flexible whether you stay at the program or not. If you decide to leave, we ask that you return to sign out your child at the end of the program.

If I order any additional items, will I receive them at the program?

Yes, however any equipment cannot be guaranteed for players who register less than 10 days prior to the program.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, but all refunds are subject to a $25 admin fee and no refund is provided for cancellation within 14 days of the camp start date.
However, you can receive a full refund via a gift card to any future program, which will not be subject to the $25 admin fee.

What happens if there is bad weather or an act of god?

Should inclement weather or acts of god affect the program any lost hours will be made up during the program. Unfortunately, if this is not possible, we do not issue refunds.

Can we register for the program the weekend prior or just show up on the day of program?

We normally allow sign ups over the weekend prior to the program starting and some programs allow walk-ons, but cannot be guaranteed so we always recommend registering beforehand.

What if my child has to leave the program due to injury or illness?

You will receive a pro rated refund, however doctor's verification may be required.

Do you offer a sibling discount?

Yes, $5 per player after the first family member has paid the regular program price.

Do you provide sign up incentives?

Yes, but they usually only apply to camp programs.

Can I host a coach?

Yes, contact our head office or speak to your programs Regional Director for more information.
